CREATURES EXHIBITION

In October 2024, I participated in an exhibition at the Falmouth Museum of Folklore and Magic titled Creatures. For this project, I created six cadavers representing types of fairies traditionally associated with Cornwall. Drawing heavily on Pisky lore, I combined real bones and assorted materials to craft lifelike, eerie representations. The cadavers were displayed in small wooden coffins to evoke the aesthetic of a cabinet of curiosities. This work was inspired by the Viktor Wynd Museum in London—particularly the Fiji mermaid forgery—and the historic cabinet of curiosities once housed on Falmouth's high street, now preserved in the National Maritime Museum. This project inspired me to write an essay on Cornwall Pisky folklore which I have since published in Volume one of Taproom Tapestries, this is available for purchase through my online shop and the fairies themselves will be on display in the Museum of Folklore and Magic late 2025.
