THE HIDDEN PEOPLE
In late 2024, I took part in a group exhibition titled Creatures! at the Museum of Folklore and Magic in Falmouth. For this exhibition, I created six sculptural “fairy cadavers,” each inspired by different fairy species found in Cornish folklore, including the Pisky, Spriggan, Bucca, Knocker, and the more contemporary Tooth Fairy. The series explored the blurred boundaries between myth and reality, drawing on the aesthetics of cabinets of curiosities and Victorian hoaxes such as the Fiji Mermaid.
Alongside these sculptures, I wrote an essay based on my research into the types of fairies associated with Cornwall. This essay is available as a small booklet for sale through my online shop and at the museum, where the sculptures are now part of the permanent display.
